Some people may wonder: what is the point of installing a burglar alarm?… Is it worth the investment? What if you never get any burglars in the first place? We are a leading provider of security installation services, and we understand the importance of protecting your property, regardless of the time and day or even the budget. One of the most common forms of security system is in fact a burglar alarm system (also termed intruder alarm), but you may be wondering if it's worth the investment. In this article, we'll explore the advantages of installing a burglar alarm system for both domestic and commercial properties, along with additional tips on deterring crime and keeping burglars away from your property.

Advantages of a Burglar Alarm System

The most obvious advantage of a burglar alarm system is the added security it provides – producing an audible warning of unauthorised entry. Homes and businesses with burglar alarms are less likely to be targeted by intruders. In the event of a break-in, the alarm will sound, alerting anyone nearby and potentially deterring the intruder from continuing. Additionally, many modern burglar alarm systems come with remote monitoring capabilities for Keyholder or Police Response or notification facilities using an app on your mobile phone. These work fantastically if your away from home or your business is closed, allowing you to keep an eye on your property even when you're not there.

Having a burglar alarm clearly visible on the outside of a property also deters burglars before they even attempt breaking in as it will inform them that an alarm system is in place. Common Customer Queries

1. What is an ARC?

ARC stands for Alarm Receiving Centre which refers to a dedicated facility that monitors the signals from systems across the UK. To include this feature, a device is added into your systems design to make it into a Monitored Alarm System which can routinely signal back and forth to an ARC regarding the device’s status or events. Including this feature means an expert team of security company specialists can act quickly to any signals.

2. What are the advantages of a monitored system?

A monitored alarm system can give you a further sense of security surrounding your property. It can be connected to our Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) so that any signals sent from the alarm system can be used to alert you, nominated keyholders or even your local Police.

3. Will my pet trigger my home security system?

If your pet stands higher than the average adult human knee, or is prone to jumping onto furniture or counter-tops, it is likely they will activate your home security alarm system in rooms that have detectors.

However, altering your security system may be possible. Speak to us today to find out. If you’re thinking of installing an alarm, you can talk to us and consider including your pets when making your bespoke house alarm.

4. When is my maintenance renewal due?

When a system is due maintenance (and the frequency thereof) is dependent on the type of system. Annual services will occur on the anniversary of the installation (or system takeover). Some systems will have more than one service a year (fire alarms and monitored intruder alarms). Our governing body, National Security Inspectorate (NSI), allows a plus or minus one month window for the annual maintenance to be completed. Therefore, for NSI purposes, a visit carried out during anniversary month, during the calendar month immediately prior to the anniversary month or during the calendar month immediately after the anniversary month is also regarded as having been completed on time.

For those that have two visits a year. The interim service would be due six months following the anniversary and the same rule applies.
