In an age where retail businesses grapple with theft and shrinkage, a CCTV (Closed-Circuit Television) system is as an indispensable tool for deterring criminal activity. In this article, we delve into the advantages of a retail CCTV system and explain the CCTV installation services that Lynx Fire & Security offer.

Advantages of a Retail CCTV System

Deterrence

The mere presence of visible CCTV cameras can act as a powerful deterrent to potential criminal activity - knowing that their actions are being recorded significantly reduces the likelihood of theft.

Evidence Collection

In the unfortunate event of theft or criminal activity, CCTV systems serve as invaluable evidence. High-resolution footage aids in identifying culprits, enabling their apprehension and potential prosecution.

Staff and Customer Safety

CCTV systems not only safeguard merchandise but also ensure the safety of staff and customers. Real-time monitoring allows for immediate responses to security concerns, creating a safer environment. It also allows you to review events that have occurred in order to audit health and safety procedures.

Remote Access and Monitoring

Many modern CCTV systems offer remote access, allowing you to monitor your store even when you're off-site. This feature is especially beneficial for multi-location retailers. Want extra protection? CCTV Monitoring to An Alarm Receiving Centre can be used when your premises is closed – this means that any unauthorised personnel are recorded and the correct keyholders (or police) are informed of the activity quickly and efficiently.

Common Customer Queries

1. When is my maintenance renewal due?

When a system is due maintenance (and the frequency thereof) is dependent on the type of system. Annual services will occur on the anniversary of the installation (or system takeover). Some systems will have more than one service a year (fire alarms and monitored intruder alarms). Our governing body, National Security Inspectorate (NSI), allows a plus or minus one month window for the annual maintenance to be completed. Therefore, for NSI purposes, a visit carried out during anniversary month, during the calendar month immediately prior to the anniversary month or during the calendar month immediately after the anniversary month is also regarded as having been completed on time.

For those that have two visits a year. The interim service would be due six months following the anniversary and the same rule applies.

2. What does a maintenance renewal include?

A maintenance renewal cost includes the following:

  • A service visit (or 2 dependant on the system)
  • Priority callouts over unmaintained customers*
  • Access to our Out-of-hours Emergency Engineers* – contactable via any of our telephone numbers
  • Reduced callout rates*
  • Next annual service offered at a reduced, maintained rate

* for 12 months
