Simply having a domestic intruder alarm installed on your property isn’t enough to guarantee long term security. These systems should be regularly maintained and a consideration about monitoring services should be made in order to fully secure your peace of mind.

Lynx Fire and Security have been providing intruder alarm servicing and monitoring across the Midlands for over 35 years, helping to improve home security on a house-by-house basis.

This blog will delve into some specifics surrounding domestic intruder alarm monitoring and servicing, to showcase how we can help bring your home security to the next level.

Using an Alarm Receiving Centre

This requires security alarm monitoring equipment to be connected to your intruder alarm system, so that the system and ARC are in direct communication about the status of your alarm - communications can be via SIM, Wi-Fi or IP internet (or a combination of two)..

Keyholder Response

Firstly, it is important that Keyholders are no more than 20 miles - or 20 minutes - away from your property, as they will be informed of all activations that occur.

You can allocate this responsibility to a Keyholding (or Guarding) Company too, such as 3 Lions Security, if you feel this option is more reliable for you.

Police Response

A Police URN (Unique Reference Number) can be allocated to your security system, meaning that the local Police will be contacted in the event of a confirmed activation.

Keyholders will still be informed during this, ensuring that someone can attend your property to assess the situation.

Using HomeControl2.0 for App Based Notifications

HomeControl2.0 is a mobile app, designed by Pyronix, that enhances security system by providing comprehensive, remote, and real-time control over your home security, including a range of different features such as:

  • Biometric Login - supporting FaceID and fingerprint recognition for quick and secure access without the need to enter a code.
  • History Log - the app retains the last 50 push notifications and 10 panel events, allowing you to go back and assess any issues.

Although not strictly ‘monitoring’, notification facilities such as this enable you to know the status of your system even when you are away.

This app facility is only available for maintained systems, and may not be suitable on all security systems. Chat to us about your monitoring requirements and we can let you know what option is best for you.

Maintaining Your Domestic Intruder Alarm

As we previously mentioned, your alarm systems should be regularly maintained - this should be at least once annually. During a maintenance visit, a variety of checks and tests will be undertaken such as:

  • Batteries (on wireless systems)
  • Wiring (on wired systems)
  • Sensors
  • Sounders
  • Back up power
